“Why do people say “grow some balls”? Balls are weak and sensitive. If you wanna be tough, grow a vagina. Those things can take a pounding.”
“A woman is like a tea bag – you never know how strong she is until she gets in hot water.”
“I am a woman with thoughts and questions and shit to say. I say if I’m beautiful. I say if I’m strong. You will not determine my story — I will. I will speak and share and fuck and love, and I will never apologize to the frightened millions who resent that they never had it in them to do it. I stand here and I am amazing, for you. Not because of you. I am not who I sleep with. I am not my weight. I am not my mother. I am myself.”
“No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.”
“I love to see a young girl go out and grab the world by the lapels. Life’s a bitch. You’ve got to go out and kick ass.”
“If you want to run for Prime Minister, you can. If you don’t, that’s wonderful, too. Shave your armpits, don’t shave them, wear flats one day, heels the next. These things are so irrelevant and surface to what it is all really about, and I wish people wouldn’t get caught up in that. We want to empower women to do exactly what they want, to be true to themselves, to have the opportunities to develop.”
“Your self-worth is determined by you. You don’t have to depend on someone telling you who you are.”
“Speak your mind even if your voice shakes.”
“Failure is an important part of your growth and developing resilience. Don’t be afraid to fail.”
“The thing women have yet to learn is nobody gives you power. You just take it.”
“Is ‘fat’ really the worst thing a human being can be? Is ‘fat’ worse than ‘vindictive’, ‘jealous’, ‘shallow’, ‘vain’, ‘boring’ or ‘cruel’? Not to me.
J. K. Rowling
“Above all, be the heroine of your life, not the victim.”
“No matter who you are, no matter what you did, no matter where you’ve come from, you can always change, become a better version of yourself.”
“You can’t go listening to every fucking little voice that runs through your head. You’ll go nuts.”
“Only make decisions that support your self-image, self-esteem, and self-worth.”
“People think at the end of the day that a man is the only answer [to fulfillment]. Actually a job is better for me.”
“A feminist is anyone who recognizes the equality and full humanity of women and men.”
Cathelijne Blok van TittyMag en Milou Deelen vroegen in het kader van Internationale Vrouwendag en 100 jaar vrouwenstemrecht aan 100 vrouwen waar zij he-le-maal klaar mee zijn:
